Seville, Spain

Seville is the capital and largest city of the Andalusia and the province of Seville. It is situated on the lower reaches of the River Guadalquivir, in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. An inland port, it is the chief city of Andalusia and the fourth largest in Spain. Sevilla was important in history as a cultural centre, as a capital of Muslim Spain, and as a centre for Spanish exploration of the New World.

Seville has a Mediterranean climate, featuring very hot, dry summers and mild winters with moderate rainfall. Like most Mediterranean climates, Seville is drier during summers and wetter during winters. Summer is the dominant season and lasts from May to October.

The most important art collection of Seville is the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. It holds many masterworks by Murillo, Pacheco, Zurbaran, Valdes Leal and others masters of the Baroque Sevillian School, containing also Flemish paintings of the 15th and 16th centuries.
