Professor Angelo Lucia is the Chester H Kirk Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island (URI). Prior to joining URI, Dr. Lucia was a Full Professor at Clarkson University for 15 years. Professor Lucia's research focus is in the general areas of modeling, simulation, optimization, and analysis with applications in computational thermodynamics, process design, reservoir simulation, and metabolic networks. He has published over 100 journal articles, given over 200 presentations, and consulted for a wide range of industrial companies over his academic career. Prior to becoming an educator, Dr. Lucia worked for Union Carbide Corporation in South Charleston, WV.

Dr. Rick Smith is a President at Canadian Climate Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Guelph. He is a prominent Canadian author, environmentalist and non-profit leader. Furthermore, he served as Executive Director of Environmental Defence From 2003 to 2012. He is the co-author of two bestselling books on the health effects of pollution: Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects Our Health (2009) and Toxin Toxout (2014). A Quill & Quire “Book of the Year”, Slow Death by Rubber Duck has been featured by the Washington Post (which said it “is hard-hitting in a way that turns your stomach and yet also instills hope”), Dr. Oz, Fox News, and Oprah Magazine, and translated into six languages. Rick is a former Chief of Staff for the federal NDP, and has led many successful campaigns for important new public policies at the federal and provincial levels related to environmental and consumer protection, urban planning and green jobs creation. He was a member of the Panel of Environment and Sustainable Development Advisors for the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development of Canada.
Professor Bunsho Ohtani started his research work on photo catalysis in 1981 when he was a Ph.D. course student in Kyoto University. Since then, he has been studying photo catalysis and related topics for 40 years and published more than 300 original papers (h-index: 70) and two single-author books. After gaining his Ph.D. degree from Kyoto University in 1985, he became an assistant professor in the university. In 1996, he was promoted to an associate professor in Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University and was then awarded a full professor position in the Catalysis Research Center (presently Institute for Catalysis), Hokkaido University in 1998. He was awarded several times from the societies related to chemistry, photochemistry, electrochemistry and catalysis chemistry.

Dr. Habil. Vaidotas KAŽUKAUSKAS is a Professor at the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University, Lithuania. He was awarded Dr. Habil. degree in 1999. The topics of his research work are carrier transport, generation, recombination and trapping phenomena in advanced materials and structures for (opto-)electronic and photovoltaic applications. Prof. V. Kažukauskas is/was involved as a team leader into the six large-scale international projects and other numerous projects. He was awarded the National Science Award of Lithuanian Republic, the National Science Award for the Distinguished Scientist, the Science Award of the Rector of Vilnius University and others. V. Kažukauskas has more than 380 publications, had delivered more than 60 invited lectures at the international conferences, and authored three textbooks.

Previously he held various management positions in crop protection research and development at Ciba, Novartis and Syngenta, most recently as Research Portfolio Manager Insect Control & Seed care at Syngenta Crop Protection AG in Switzerland (until April 2020). His track record of innovation and successful introduction of new technologies includes the authorship of more than 200 scientific papers and patents, the invention of Thiamethoxam, one of the leading insecticides worldwide, and major contributions to the discovery of several new active ingredients currently in worldwide development, such as spiropidion, isocycloseram, cyclobutrifluram and a malaria vector control agent. His scientific contributions also led to numerous invitations as speaker and/or co-organizer of many international congresses, including IUPAC Crop Protection congresses.

Sharidan Shafie obtained his Ph.D (2005) in Applied Mathematics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. He is working as an Associate Professor at Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty Sciences, UTM. He is a member of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (PERSAMA). His main areas of interest in research are fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and mathematical modelling of boundary layer flow. Currently, more than 25 PhD and 10 MSc by research students have graduated under his supervision. More than 250 articles have been published, with 191 of them appearing in prestigious Web of Science journals. Applied Mathematics, Multidisciplinary Sciences, Applied Physics, Thermodynamics, Engineering Multidisciplinary, and Material Science Multidisciplinary are some areas of study.

Zahira Yaakob received her BS (Chemical Engineering) from University of Toledo Ohio USA in 1988, MSc and PhD degrees from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 1991 and 1995, respectively. She joined the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1995 until now. Prof Yaakob is currently engaged in research on reaction engineering, catalysis, renewable energy and nano material. She received a Commonwealth Fellowship in 2003 and spend one year at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the area of Reaction Engineering. Prof Yaakob is one of the recipient of Woman in Science award in 2016 from The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. She has published more than 260 articles in peer reviewed journal with H-index 42. She is amongst the top 2% scientist in energy cited in an article published by Stanford University.

Agnes Thorarinsdottir earned a BS in Chemistry from the University of Iceland in 2015 and a PhD in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 2020. Her doctoral work focused on manipulating the electronic structure of transition metal-based molecular compounds to design bioresponsive magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and to elucidate design principles for molecule-based magnets with high operating temperatures. She is a Harvard University Center for the Environment 2020-2022 postdoctoral fellow working in the laboratory of Prof. Daniel Nocera where her research focuses on designing and studying electro catalysts that facilitate transformations of energy relevance, in particular those that convert solar energy to chemical fuels.

Dr. Djilali Tassalit Graduated in Environmental Engineering in 2004 from Houari Boumedienne University, Algeria. In 2008, he has Magister Degree in Energy Process and Doctorate in science in 2013 from the same university. During his studies he was very interested in water pollution, water treatments and integration of renewable energies. It was a real challenge and a very interesting experience for him to develop photocatalytic methods and design of new reactors prototypes to eliminate recalcitrant pollutants by photocatalysis combined to UV from solar radiation and other catalyst. Since 2008, he worked on photocatalytic elimination of pharmaceutical pollutants using ZnO and TiO2 other synthesized catalysts. He occupied the job of UDES director in 2020 and currently, he is the director of Innovation and technologies development /DGRSDT and member of many scientific projects and events.
