Dr. Ajay Pal an Associate Scientist in the Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center (Center for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation)Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, USA. My current work focused on the modulation of large diameter proprioceptiveafferent for the recovery of sensorimotor function after SCI. In another project I am investigating the role of cerebellar and spinocerebellar pathways in recovery of skilled forelimb function after cervical lesions in rodents. I earned amaster’s degree in biomedical sciences from University of Delhi and my interest in Neuroscience led me to earn a PhD degree in Neurophysiology from AIIMS, New Delhi followed by postdoctoral training from Clinatec Laboratory, CEA, France, and Burke Neurological Institute - Weill Cornell Medicine, New York before moving to Columbia University as a research scientist. My research at Columbia University was focuses on the interplay of brain and spinal cord in the control of skilled arm and hand function. I seek to understand how neural circuits are compromised by injury and to strengthen thebrain and spinal connections that are spared using paired motor cortex and spinal cord stimulation, to improve recovery. My research focused towards furthering our knowledge of spinal injuries and the treatment of paralysis due to a variety of causes.
