The intellectual origins of rheumatology and orthopedics stem from the Enlightenment, when researchers began to use analytical thinking from Orthopedic Clinical Research, Regenerative orthopedics, Organ forming and 3D-printing, Shock wave therapy, Bone Biology and Pathophysiology, Cartilage Biology and Pathophysiology, Tendon Biology and Pathophysiology, Hip and Knee Arthroplasty and many more advanced topics in the field of Orthopedics and Rheumatology.

Biography

Prof. Dr. Carmen Santos Hernandez is a Senior and Full Professor and Researcher, more than 25 years of experience on Clinical Nutrition and in researches applied to Body Composition and diagnostic indicators validation for metabolic adaptation to nutritional stress in Kidney, Liver and Complex Surgeries Transplantation, in Obesity and chronic diseases, as well as the development and scientific direction of surveys in healthy populations. Specialist in Nutrition in Public Health. Graduated from the University of Havana, Cuba. Doctor in Medical Sciences (PhD in 1991) and in Sciences (Sc D., 2010). Dedicated to the teaching of clinical practice and to the superior teaching formation of Medicine students, Masters students and doctoral students in Latin American universities. National Awards (Best Thesis of Scientific Degree of Biomedicine, Cuba, 1992 and 2010). Currently Professor and Invited Principal Researcher of the University of Guadalajara. She has been Vice Dean, (Research Dean), chairs Scientific Council of the Latin American School of Medicine (2002 to 2009). She has been deputy director and member of Editorial Committees of Cuban medical journals. She is president of the Teaching Degrees Tribunal for Primary Care of the National School of Public Health of Cuba. Scientific Advisor of the Organ Transplantation Group of the Medical Surgical Research Center, collaborator of several projects sponsored by the United Nations University and the Pan American Sanitary Bureau. Independent Evaluation Consultant of the UNDP Project for the United Nations Global Fund for HIV / AIDS. She is part of the scientific committee of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health for the evaluation of the Health Systems and Services Research Branch Program. Invited Consultant Professor of the universities of Guayaquil in Ecuador since 1996 and of Guadalajara since 2001. Founder and Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Magazine " Panorama. Cuba y Salud" of the Latin American School of Medicine.
